Cassie has just published her first book, a romcom on her divorce experience. To help a new writer along, the publisher pairs her with the established "dragon writer" Elliot on a week long book tour. Will they remain singles?

When first-time author Cassie Winslett is paired with successful author Elliot Somersby on a road trip to promote their books, she learns to believe in herself and her talent. She also finds truth in the old adage "you can't judge a book by its cover" as she finds herself falling for the guy she thought to be pompous and full of himself when they first met.

Cassie Winslett, who works as a barista in her best friend and roommate Becca's coffee shop in Princeton, New Jersey, has just had her first book published, a comical year long account of how she dealt with a painful breakup. While she wants the book to be a success, she shies away from publicity in being uncomfortable in front of crowds, and she doesn't want anyone to know, not even her publicist Piper, that she is the daughter of famed novelist Jeannine Jordan, Cassie wanting the success or failure of the book on its own merits. With that latter issue, Cassie, if she is able to carve out a career as a writer, doesn't want to write fiction if only for the comparisons to her mother. When Cassie's first book signing doesn't yield any substantial press or much public enthusiasm, her publishing company, MacDonner Press, decides to pair her with one of their established successful authors, Elliot Somersby, for a four city college town book tour (New York City, Boston, Albany and Buffalo), MacDonner who has just released the second in what is to be Elliot's trilogy in a fantasy dragon series. Although she can see that Elliot has a natural way about him in front of a crowd, she is not looking forward to the tour not only in being shy, but believing she will dislike Elliot, both because she thinks him to be a pampered divo and that she would have nothing in common with someone who writes books for, in her terms, boy nerds. Their tour, which they do by car in accommodating Elliot's want to bring his dog, Bungee, is nothing as Cassie expects as Elliot is more than helpful with her appearances and dealing with the public, in he not being the divo she thought, and as his overall mentality with work is an appreciation for good writing irrespective of the genre. As such, Cassie starts to fall for him, and she hopes he for her. But Cassie believes she may have been mistaken about Elliot's feelings for her when she learns the primary reason he wanted to bring Bungee along: to allow her to visit with the person who gave her to Elliot as a present, Elliot's ex-wife Allison in Buffalo who broke up with him a year ago with the release of the first book.
